Why learn DP-300 with Ace Skills

  • Your DBA skills, translated

Each topic starts from what you already do on SQL Server and shows what changes, what stays and what Azure now handles for you.

  • Real performance problems

You diagnose blocking, regressions and missing indexes on a busy workload using Query Store and DMVs.

  • Failover you have practised

Failover groups and availability groups are built and failed over in class, so DR plans are tested rather than assumed.

  • Security by layers

Entra authentication, private endpoints, TDE, Always Encrypted and auditing are applied to the same database step by step.

Course overview

Database administrators moving to Azure find that much of their expertise still applies, but the decisions change: which deployment option to use, how service tiers affect performance, how high availability is delivered and what is now automated by the platform. This four-day course helps experienced DBAs make those decisions with confidence.

Day one covers planning and deploying data platform resources — comparing Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance and SQL Server on Azure VMs, choosing service tiers and migrating databases. Day two secures the environment with Microsoft Entra authentication, firewall rules, private endpoints, encryption, auditing and data classification.

Day three focuses on performance: monitoring with Query Store, dynamic management views and database watcher, identifying blocking and inefficient queries, and tuning indexes and configuration. Automation is covered alongside, with SQL Agent, elastic jobs and automated maintenance. Day four is dedicated to high availability and disaster recovery — backups, geo-replication, failover groups and Always On availability groups — followed by exam preparation.

Labs use realistic workloads, so you diagnose genuine performance problems and fail over real databases rather than following click-by-click demonstrations.

The course is aligned to the DP-300 exam. Microsoft updates exam outlines periodically, so check the current skills measured on Microsoft Learn before booking.
