Why Cisco Networking?
Why networking still matters
Cloud has not removed the need for networking — it has made it more important. Every application, branch office and data centre depends on routing, switching, wireless and secure connectivity, and hybrid networks that link on-premises sites to the cloud are now normal. Cisco certifications remain one of the most recognised ways to show you can design, configure and troubleshoot these networks.
Roles and certifications
- Network engineer or administrator — CCNA covers fundamentals, IP services, security basics and automation.
- Senior enterprise network engineer — CCNP Enterprise core (ENCOR) plus a concentration exam such as ENARSI.
- Network security engineer — CCNP Security core (SCOR).
- Data centre engineer — CCNP Data Center core (DCCOR).
- SOC and security analyst — Cisco Certified Cybersecurity Associate.
How to choose
CCNA is the right starting point for almost everyone. It is broad, practical and lab-heavy, and it gives you the troubleshooting habits that every networking role relies on. If you are completely new to IT, CompTIA Network+ can be a gentler first step. After CCNA and some real experience, choose a CCNP track by the work you do: enterprise campus and WAN, security, or data centre.
A CCNP certification has typically required a core exam plus one concentration exam. Our ENCOR and ENARSI courses are designed to work together for the enterprise track. Labs use simulated and emulated environments so you can practise configurations repeatedly.
Networking skills also open doors beyond pure networking roles. Cloud network engineers, security engineers and SRE teams all rely on a solid grasp of routing, subnetting, VLANs and troubleshooting. Many of our learners use CCNA as a base before moving into cloud networking with Azure or AWS, or into security with CCNP Security or CompTIA certifications.
We encourage every learner to keep a lab notebook of configurations and fixes. It becomes a personal reference long after the exam, and it is good evidence of practical skill in interviews.
Cisco revises exam topics and names periodically. Confirm the current exam blueprint on the Cisco Learning Network or Cisco certification pages.
Cisco Networking FAQs
Is CCNA suitable for a fresher?
Yes, if you are comfortable with basic computer concepts and willing to practise. Freshers who find it heavy sometimes start with Network+.
How much lab practice will I get?
Each session pairs concepts with configuration practice. Your trainer will also share a home-lab plan using simulators so you can keep practising between classes.
Does passing ENCOR alone give me CCNP?
Passing the core exam has typically earned a Specialist certification; CCNP has required a concentration exam as well. Confirm the current structure on the Cisco website.
Should I learn network automation?
Yes. Automation and programmability appear in both CCNA and CCNP topics, and our courses introduce Python, APIs and configuration management in a networking context.
