Why certify in project management?

Projects fail more often from poor planning, unclear ownership and weak communication than from technology. Project and agile certifications give teams a shared vocabulary and proven methods for scoping work, managing risk, engaging stakeholders and delivering value in increments. For individuals, they are a recognised signal that you can lead delivery, not just take part in it.

Predictive, agile and hybrid

Modern project management is rarely one approach. PMI’s PMP exam covers predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, and the 2026 Exam Content Outline gives particular weight to process and business environment. PRINCE2 offers a structured, principles-based method popular with governments and large organisations. Scrum and SAFe focus on agile teams and on scaling agile across many teams.

How to choose

• New to project roles: CAPM, or Scrum Master certifications (CSM or PSM I) if you work in agile teams.
• Experienced project managers: PMP is the broadest and most widely requested credential.
• Organisations using PRINCE2: PRINCE2 7 Foundation and Practitioner.
• Agile practitioners: PMI-ACP, or CSPO for product owners.
• Large-scale agile: Leading SAFe and SAFe POPM.
• Senior programme leaders: PgMP.

PMP and PgMP have eligibility requirements — typically a set amount of project experience and formal project management education. Our PMP course provides 35 contact hours of instruction to help meet the education requirement. Check PMI’s current rules before you apply.

Exams in this area are dominated by situational questions: you are given a scenario and asked what a project manager, Scrum Master or product owner should do next. Our trainers draw on real delivery experience to discuss why one response is better than another, which is the best preparation for both the exam and the job. For organisations, we also run private workshops that help project teams adopt a common approach.

Some programmes, such as CSM, CSPO and SAFe, must be delivered by licensed trainers. Each course page states how the class is delivered and what exam or assessment is included.
