Course overview

A Scrum Master helps a team and its organisation get the most from Scrum. That means understanding the framework deeply, facilitating events that are genuinely useful, removing impediments and coaching people towards self-management. This two-day course builds those skills through discussion, exercises and simulated sprints.

Day one establishes the foundations: agile values and principles, empiricism, the Scrum framework and its accountabilities, and the purpose of each event and artefact. You will explore how the Scrum Master serves the developers, the Product Owner and the organisation, and look at common anti-patterns. Day two focuses on practice: facilitating sprint planning, daily scrums, reviews and retrospectives, working with the product backlog, handling impediments, coaching techniques and scaling considerations. It finishes with preparation for the CSM assessment.

Most of the time is spent doing rather than listening. You will work in small teams on simulated sprints, practise facilitation techniques, role-play difficult situations such as a disengaged stakeholder or an overcommitted team, and reflect on what you learned in retrospectives.

Certification is issued by Scrum Alliance only when the course is delivered by a trainer licensed by Scrum Alliance. Ace Skills Consulting confirms trainer licensing for each batch. This page describes the course content; it does not imply that Ace Skills Consulting is itself a Scrum Alliance partner.
