Why Microsoft Azure?

Why learn Microsoft Azure?

Azure sits underneath a large share of enterprise IT. Organisations that already run Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 often extend into Azure first, which is why Azure skills show up in job descriptions for administrators, architects, developers and security teams across India and the Gulf. Learning Azure is less about memorising service names and more about understanding how identity, networking, compute and storage fit together inside a subscription that someone has to secure, monitor and pay for.

Microsoft refreshes its certification portfolio regularly, and 2026 has seen several exams retire and new AI-focused exams appear. Our courses are reviewed against the current skills outline before each batch, and we always point you to Microsoft Learn to confirm the exam you are booking.

Roles this path leads to

  • Cloud or Azure administrator — managing identities, virtual networks, virtual machines, storage and backup (AZ-104).
  • Solutions architect — designing landing zones, resilience, governance and cost controls (AZ-305).
  • DevOps engineer — building pipelines, infrastructure as code and release strategies (AZ-400).
  • Network, security and Windows Server specialists — AZ-700, SC-500 and AZ-802.
  • AI developers — building applications and agents on Azure AI services (AI-103, AI-200).

How to choose your first Azure certification

If you are new to cloud, start with AZ-900. It is short, it builds vocabulary, and it gives managers, sales and support staff a shared language. If you already work with servers or networks, you can go straight to AZ-104, which is the practical foundation most Azure roles expect. AZ-305 assumes administrator-level knowledge, so plan it after AZ-104 rather than instead of it. Developers and AI practitioners can begin with AI-901 for fundamentals and then move to AI-200 or AI-103 depending on whether they build general cloud applications or AI-driven apps and agents.

Whichever route you take, hands-on practice matters more than reading. Every Ace Skills Azure batch includes guided labs, and our trainers help you plan a realistic study schedule around work.

Exam codes, titles and retirement dates change. Always confirm the current exam on Microsoft Learn before you book.

Microsoft Azure FAQs

Do I need AZ-900 before AZ-104?

No. AZ-900 is not a prerequisite for any Azure exam. It is useful if you are new to cloud, but people with server or networking experience often start directly with AZ-104.

I was preparing for AZ-204 or AZ-500. What should I do now?

Both exams have retired. Microsoft has introduced newer exams in these areas, which our catalogue lists as AI-200 and SC-500. Check the current status on Microsoft Learn, then speak to us about moving to the matching course.

Do I need an Azure subscription for the course?

For live labs we guide you through using a free or trial subscription, or a lab environment where one is provided for your batch. Your trainer explains cost controls on day one so you do not get unexpected charges.

How long are Azure certifications valid?

Microsoft role-based certifications are generally valid for a year and can be renewed through a free online assessment on Microsoft Learn. Fundamentals certifications have historically not expired. Confirm the current renewal rules on Microsoft Learn.

Is the training useful if I do not plan to sit the exam?

Yes. The labs and design discussions are built around real administration and architecture tasks, so the skills apply on the job whether or not you book the exam.
