Course overview
DevOps is often reduced to a list of tools, but the organisations that benefit most treat it as a change in how teams work together. This two-day course explains the ideas behind DevOps, the practices that make it work and the measures that show whether it is working.
Day one covers why DevOps emerged, its core principles and the cultural shifts it needs: shared ownership, blameless learning, psychological safety and breaking down silos between development, operations, security and the business. You will explore value streams, flow and feedback, and see how DevOps relates to Agile, ITSM, Lean and site reliability engineering.
Day two moves to key practices — continuous integration, delivery and deployment, infrastructure as code, observability, and chaos engineering — and how toolchains are assembled to support them. It then covers measurement: flow and stability metrics, value stream metrics and how to report progress honestly. The day ends with a review of how to start or scale a DevOps transformation, followed by exam preparation.
The course is discussion-based with short exercises, including a simulation that shows the effect of small batches and automation on lead time.
This course is aligned to the DevOps Foundation certification exam. Exam format and provider details should be confirmed before booking; Ace Skills does not use official courseware.
