Course overview

Terraform has become the common language for provisioning cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and hundreds of other platforms. Teams that use it well can review infrastructure changes like code, reproduce environments on demand and recover quickly from mistakes. This two-day course gives you that working fluency.

Day one starts with why infrastructure as code matters and how Terraform works: providers, resources, the core init, plan, apply and destroy workflow, variables, outputs, locals, data sources and expressions. You will write configuration from scratch, then refactor it with loops, conditionals and dynamic blocks, and learn to read plans carefully before applying them.

Day two focuses on what makes Terraform maintainable in a team: state and remote backends, locking, importing existing resources, moving and removing resources from state, building and versioning modules, and validating configuration with checks, preconditions and custom conditions. You will also use HCP Terraform for remote runs, workspaces, variable sets and policy, then finish with exam readiness.

All labs deploy real resources in a cloud sandbox, so you see exactly what Terraform does and what it costs to get things wrong.

This course is aligned to the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004) exam, which has been the current version since 8 January 2026 and tests Terraform 1.12. Confirm current exam details on the HashiCorp certification site before booking.
