Course overview

When configuration is not enough, Salesforce developers extend the platform with code. The Platform Developer I certification checks that you can do this safely, within the platform’s multi-tenant limits. This five-day course teaches the fundamentals hands-on, with a strong focus on writing code that scales.

Day one covers developer fundamentals: the multi-tenant architecture, governor limits, the data model from a developer’s perspective, declarative versus programmatic choices, and setting up Visual Studio Code with the Salesforce CLI. Day two introduces Apex — data types, collections, classes and object-oriented design — along with SOQL, SOSL and DML.

Day three focuses on business logic: triggers and trigger frameworks, bulkification, the order of execution, exception handling, and asynchronous Apex with future methods, queueable, batch and scheduled jobs. Day four covers user interfaces with Lightning Web Components — templates, data binding, events, calling Apex and Lightning Data Service — plus an overview of Visualforce.

Day five covers testing, debugging and deployment: test classes and data factories, code coverage, debug logs, scratch orgs, sandboxes and deployment tools, followed by exam readiness.

This course is aligned to the Salesforce Certified Platform Developer (PD1) exam. Ace Skills is not a Salesforce partner and does not use official courseware. Please confirm the current exam guide on Trailhead before booking.
