POPM: SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager

In SAFe, Product Managers shape what an agile release train builds, while Product Owners turn that direction into team-level work. Both need a shared understanding of customers, value, backlogs and the planning rhythm. This two-day course builds that understanding for people in either role and prepares you for the POPM exam.

Day one covers the product roles in SAFe, the Lean-Agile mindset, customer-centricity and design thinking, value streams, and how to explore and define features with benefit hypotheses and acceptance criteria. It then moves to preparing for PI planning: prioritising with weighted shortest job first, splitting features into stories and building a vision and roadmap. Day two focuses on leading and executing PI planning, managing team backlogs during iterations, supporting system demos, inspecting and adapting, and the continuous delivery pipeline.

Practical exercises include writing features and stories, prioritising a backlog, preparing and participating in a simulated PI planning event, and refining a team backlog during execution.
