Course overview

Boards and regulators increasingly ask how technology decisions are governed: who sets direction, how performance is measured and how risk is managed. COBIT 2019 from ISACA is a widely used framework for answering those questions. This two-day course explains COBIT 2019 clearly and prepares you for the COBIT Foundation exam.

Day one introduces the framework: the difference between governance and management, the principles for a governance system and a governance framework, and the components of a governance system such as processes, organisational structures, information flows and culture. It then walks through the core model of governance and management objectives grouped into domains. Day two covers design factors and focus areas, how to tailor a governance system for an organisation, performance management with capability and maturity levels, the goals cascade, and an overview of the implementation approach, followed by exam preparation.

Exercises connect the framework to real situations. You will analyse design factors for a case organisation, map business goals to governance objectives through the goals cascade, and assess capability for a sample process. Discussion throughout draws on governance challenges common in Indian and Gulf organisations.
